Amedeo Modigliani, Recumbent nude, Private collection, oil on canvas, 65 x 100 cm.

The Modigliani Project is a nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Kenneth Wayne in 2013 to promote research and scholarly focus on the artist Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920). The organization is supported by an Advisory Board of world-renowned curators, researchers and art historians, as well as members of Modigliani's family. Our purpose is to serve as a research and educational resource, and to consolidate the disparate and, in some cases, incomplete history of the artist and his work.

Through an international collaboration of experts from some of the most distinguished art institutions in the world, we are working jointly to develop a comprehensive database of Modigliani's oeuvre, curate exhibitions, publish reports and literature, and initiate or contribute to scholarly and educational programs. We aim to assure Modigliani the dignified legacy he deserves.

"La funzione dell’arte e di combattere contro le imposizioni."

~ Amedeo Modigliani

We look forward to your support and participation, and we welcome all information about Modigliani works and the availability of archival material like letters, clippings, photographs, rare books and exhibition catalogues. Whether you are already an admirer of Modigliani, a collector, or an ardent supporter of the arts, please stay in touch by signing up for our newsletter, visiting us here and on social media, or attending upcoming events and exhibitions. Our work depends on gifts and donations from people like you who care about Modigliani's artwork and the enormous influence he still has on modern and contemporary art.

"The function of art is to do battle against burdens."
~ Amedeo Modigliani
