Dr. Kenneth WAYNE
Modigliani & the Artists of Montparnasse
Dr. Kenneth Wayne has researched Modigliani for more than thirty years. He organized the acclaimed exhibition, "Modigliani & the Artists of Montparnasse," which traveled from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York, to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 2002-2003. Dr. Wayne wrote the accompanying 224-page catalogue, among many other publications on the artist. He has lectured extensively on Modigliani at such institutions as the Royal Academy of Art in London, the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, Canada, and the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C.

"Modigliani, Modern Sculpture and the Influence of Antiquity" in Modigliani Sculptor, exhibition catalogue, il Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporaneo di Trento e Rovereto, Italy, 2010. The catalogue appeared in both English and Italian editions. Edited by Gabriella Belli, Flavio Fergonzi and Alessandro del Puppo with the collaboration of Clarenza Catullo, all of whom organized the exhibition.
"Modigliani sculpture: The Lévy Head," in Christie's Paris, Art Impressioniste et Moderne, auction catalogue, June 2010. The essay appeared in French in the catalogue (and in English online). The work sold for $53 million, setting a record for the artist and remaining the highest-priced work sold at auction in France by any artist.
"Modigliani in the 1920s" in Modigliani y Su Tiempo, exhibition catalogue, Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid, Spain, 2008. Essay appeared in English and Spanish. (Dr. Wayne was also a consultant on this project regarding loans.) Curator: Francisco Calvo Serraller.
